Story
Looking for a calm, loyal companion to share your days with? Meet 13-year-old Rylie (aka Mr. Squishy Face), a sweet senior gentleman whose foster parents say he’s an absolute treasure. Rylie is easygoing, well-mannered, and happiest when he's enjoying a stroll around the fenced yard or snoozing the afternoon away. He loves gentle pets, and he’s especially motivated by treats — which makes him a breeze to bond with! ✨ Rylie's Highlights: – House trained ✅ – Crate trained (but does great when left loose!) – Very quiet and respectful indoors – Gets along well with other dogs – Lived with a cat before (he was a little afraid of it!) – Walks beautifully on leash with a harness – Rides calmly in the car (just needs a little boost in!) 💛 Rylie does have some age-related challenges — he’s hard of hearing and has some mild arthritis in his back legs. He may not hear you call, but a kind hand motion is all he needs to follow with trust and love. Rylie is looking for a peaceful, loving home where he can enjoy his golden years with dignity and care. If you’re looking for a mellow, affectionate pup to share your heart and home, Rylie may be your perfect match. Story
Hi I’m Arnold and I’m living with my foster mom and my two brothers Abner and Arthur. We were rescued from a shelter in SW Virginia on Saturday 1/25/2025. Shelter life isn’t easy and didn’t teach us good manners but we have come a long way in just 24 hours. We hadn’t ever used stairs but we had to learn to use them to go potty outside. Our foster mom carried us a few times but finally I got brave and got up the courage! I did great and my brothers were so surprised at how easy it looked that they got brave too! Our foster mom has to go downstairs first and then we get brave and hurry to meet her. Now we want to go outside and up and down the stairs all the time and are doing really great with accidents in the house. We will keep working on that. I would just like to stretch out and sleep on a soft bed and I’m doing lots of that. My foster mom says I have the sweetest demeanor, I’m confident and calm which helps us all to stay calm. We didn’t get lots of kisses, pets and snuggles in the shelter so we are making up for lost time. We are still trying to get settled in and all we want to do right now is to rest, snuggle and relax on the soft couch. Our foster mom will get better pictures and update our profiles soon. She tells us that our forever home is out there waiting for us and we can’t wait to meet you. We are about 13 weeks old and ready to be adopted on Saturday Feb 8 when we have our final shots. If you want more info or want to meet us you can get in touch with Fancy Cats to make that happen.  Adoption fee: $525, includes 1st DHPP, deworming, flea preventative, microchip   If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application and a representative will get back to you shortly to answer any questions you may have.  Cooper is a 4 year-old Boxer mix.  He weighs 70 lbs. He's very active with high energy, and is a good boy if he has an outlet for his energy.  Cooper attends daycare a couple times a week and seems to do better with female dogs.  He is not a fan of squirrels and will chase them or bark if he's inside and sees them.  He loves to dig, but can be redirected quite easily.  Cooper may do best in a house with another dog to play with, preferably female. IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS LISTING ON PETFINDER OR ADOPT-A-PET, please visit: Caninesandkittiesrescue.org to access adoption requirements, more information and pictures. Meet Rocco! Rocco is about 8 months old and weighs about 45 lbs. We think Rocco looks like a Boxer/Pit bull mix, but this is just a guess. Rocco is a very happy boy who loves all people and is great with other dogs. Rocco even does well with cats. Rocco is super playful and loves all types of doggie toys. Rocco will do best in a home where he is not alone all day as he is very people motivated. While Rocco is not in a foster home with children we feel he would be just fine with children 8 years and up. The only reason we say 8 years and up is b/c Rocco might knock a younger child down just b/c he is so happy to see them. Rocco is doing well with his house training and doing ok with his crate training. Rocco is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. The Adoption Fee is $375.00 ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS LISTING ON PETFINDER OR ADOPT-A-PET, please visit: Caninesandkittiesrescue.org to access adoption requirements, more information and pictures. Meet Angel - Angel is about 8-9 years young and 60ish lbs. Angel looks like a Boxer/Bulldog/Terrier Mix (JUST A GUESS). Angel is the sweetest girl ever. Such a loving, calm and gentle soul who did not have the best life before coming to Canines & Kitties Rescue. Angel has overcome all the years of neglect and that caused her to have skin and eye infections. Her skin and eye infections are now fully cleared and her fur has grown back beautifully and she can see the world with those soulful brown eyes. Angel is now ready for her forever home. While we were able to fix the "superficial" things such as getting her skin back to normal and clearing her eye infections, we could not fix her knees. We had Angel's knees evaluated by one of the top orthopedic surgeons in the area and he said she was born with her knees not being in the sockets. She has never known any difference and she is not in any pain. She just has reduced mobility, which she is not at all bothered by. Angel loves to take slow strolls around the neighborhood and in her foster mom's backyard. She is able to sit down, lay down and get back up with no issue. She just walks at a slower pace than most dogs her age. Angel is great with other dogs, people of all ages, but not sure about cats. Angel is looking for a forever home where she can receive all the love and attention she deserves and a fenced in yard where she can walk around and sniff and lay in the sun as these are her two most favorite things to do:) Angel is spayed and she is up to date on vaccines and microchipped. The Adoption Fee is $300.00 ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Story
Clever just took his freedom ride! This adorable, 4-month old white and brown boxer mix is a gentle soul with a huge heart – a sensitive cuddlebug who melts for belly rubs and loves being close to his humans. While he’s spunky and brave when playing, he also has a calm, thoughtful side that makes him easy to fall in love with. 💕 He's waiting for someone like YOU to adopt him and show him the world! This terrific pup came from an overcapacity rural shelter in North Carolina with his littermate who was adopted locally, leaving sweet Clever alone. Thanks to a wonderful PetConnect Rescue foster, we were able to bring Clever to the DC area so he will have the second chance he deserves. He’s currently working on crate and house training, and doing great for his age! Whether he’s curled up in your lap or off on a mini mission of discovery, Clever is the perfect mix of tender and tough. The adoption fee for this puppy is $475, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. A $250 spay/neuter deposit is required at time of adoption. This fee covers spay/neuter at one of PetConnect's preferred veterinary partners. If the adopter chooses to use their own veterinarian, the deposit will be returned with proof of sterilization. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. For more information, please email Robin at kinstondogs@verizon.net **If you're viewing this on Petfinder, please visit www.petconnectrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Story
Meet Ava! She is a 7-year-old, 53-pound, boxer-hound (best guess) mix with a sweet soul and a loving heart. She’s the perfect mix of playful and laid-back—will happily go for a walk or run in the yard but is just as happy to lounge in her bed or by your side. Ava is wonderful on leash, house-trained, and crate-trained, and she already knows sit, stay, down, and paw. She adores all people and will happily seek out affection, soaking up all the pets and belly rubs you have to offer. Ava is happy with simple pleasures. She would thrive as the only dog, where she can soak up all the love and attention she deserves. She doesn't require constant entertainment or elaborate routines. She’s happy to join you for an adventure or find a cozy spot to nap (usually her crate). Plenty of snuggles and pets (and treats!) are all it takes to make her tail wag. She’ll happily chill by your side while you work or relax, offering quiet companionship without demanding constant attention. Be warned – her adorable requests for tummy rubs might just be the most effective stress reliever out there! When she was at the shelter, she was the shelter manager's favorite! If you're searching for a loyal, affectionate and devoted companion to be your one and only, Ava is waiting to meet you! Ava is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $250 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. She`s a cuddler at heart, and after a little time, she`ll be right by your side, snuggling up for all the love you can give.Yuki is also an energetic girl who absolutely loves her daily walks and playtime outside! Sable is a verrrrrry well trained high energy girl who would love a home that takes her walking/running/hiking and plays fetch and ball with her! She listens wonderfully and does best with laid back dogs that enjoy goofing off with her. She is currently in a home where the owners work multiple jobs leaving little time for her and even less time for good hard fun. Life is boring in a crate. Story
Ava is a sweet, loyal, and loving dog. Her current family adopted her in the fall of 2018 and were told she was about 6 months old at the time. She grew up in a house with 3 teenagers (2 boys and a girl) and two moms. The teenage girl of the family really raised her and trained her and took care of her for 6 years and Ava was a lifesaver during those dark days of the pandemic. Ava can be friendly with other dogs but doesn't like ALL other dogs. She recently made friends with a neighbor's boxer, who is about 2 and Ava and this boxer play very well together. Ava also likes people but not ALL people. Ava thrives on routine and her new home may have new routines. But her routine in her current home for the last 6 years has been two walks a day (now that kids are at college, the walks are 30 minutes each, the walks were longer when teenager was caring for Ava), periodic playtime in basement chasing a tennis ball (she tires out pretty fast), lots of down time napping in her crate, which she really loves and is like her den. She will also nap outside her crate if she's with someone else, but she does like her crate. The best new home for Ava will be with people who are 'dog people' who are able to be attuned to her. Ava is used to being in a home where she's the only dog and that seems to work well. However, we can imagine Ava doing well in a home with another dog (if its the right dog) to keep her company and for play. Thank you for your interest in Ava!
