Story
ROXY Female, spayed 2 years old Cane Corso Mix 73 lbs. Microchipped, up-to-date on core vaccines and takes monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention Good with kids and cats; untested with other dogs Roxy is a confident, affectionate girl with a big heart and a zest for life! She was recently returned to LOVEPAWS, after being adopted as a puppy, because of tough circumstances- she needed life saving emergency surgery after swallowing something that caused an intestinal blockage. While LOVEPAWS was able to fundraise for the unexpected cost of her surgery, Roxy’s family realized that she would be better off in a home with more time for this active girl. She lived with small kids, who she was very sweet and patient with, but she’s so big and strong that she can accidentally knock little ones down. She also lived with cats that she was curious about and tried to play with. Speaking of play, she loves to play with anyone who’s willing. She likes to parade her toys around and entertains herself chewing with singular focus. Roxy also enjoys being outside, walking, running, sniffing, and laying in the grass while watching the world around her. Roxy is very loving, social, and silly. She gives big kisses, leans her full body weight against people for rubs, and may occasionally pass herself off as a lap dog. Roxy loves people — sometimes a little too much! On walks, she can be strong and tends to pull when she sees a new friend she wants to greet. With some consistent training and a bit of patience, Roxy will learn to be a polite walking companion — she’s smart and eager to please! She likes to flop around and get belly rubs while giving kisses and gentle nibbles. Roxy enjoys playtime, but she does need to be supervised around toys or any objects she might try to swallow. D urable toys or chews are ideal for her. She’s best suited for an attentive home that can keep her safe while she has her fun. Roxy is house trained, crate trained, knows “sit,” and is working on loose leash walking. She’s a smart, strong girl who would love to bond with her new family through play and some continued training. Roxy thrives with active humans who can help her burn off energy through play, walks, or outdoor adventures. She’s sweet, snuggly once she settles down, and would be a loving addition to a home ready to help her shine. Roxy sometimes falls asleep with just the tip of her tongue sticking out. She loves on you with her whole body- leaning against you for pets, sitting on you, nuzzling your face, giving juicy kisses, and sometimes playfully hooking a paw over your shoulder to pull you close! She lets you know she wants to play by bringing you her toys and parading around or by whisper barking. Roxy sometimes puts herself to bed when she’s tired, but like a kid, she sometimes needs you to prompt her to nap- luckily she sprawls out in her crate very happily. Roxy kicks blankets around to make a “nest,” but then often flops on her side on the floor to sleep. Ready for a fun, loyal buddy who will keep life exciting? Roxy’s your girl!
